Thankfully the air conditioning was working in the CCS auditorium for the commencement service for the Class of 2014. With temperatures in the mid 80s outside I heard many people enter the graduation ceremony

CCS - 104 06 29 Graduation

thankful for the cool air as well. Once again CCS played host to an exceptionally nice afternoon. The chorus started off with the National Anthem and Haylee Tower stepped in with the invocation. After some words from class president Hannah Cook advisers Kent Walrath and Tim Seymour took to the stage to share some warm memories and present thousands of dollars in scholarship money. Mr. Walrath also took a moment to recognize retiring math teacher Karen Johnston. The class gave her a standing ovation. There were more awards announced my Mrs. Tourville and that was followed up by "For Just A Little While" by members of the choir.
Commencement speaker Stacy Burke-Bowers talked about the importance of failing and how you handle that helps you succeed. She also stressed the value of remembering how important Chateaugay Cen
tral School has been in her life and how her experiences helped her grow. But the afternoon belonged to Rachel Decosse. Her emotionally charged speech gave the afternoon a jolt. It is indeed a time for celebration and in some ways a time for loss. Those students may never be together as a group again and their lives will change. She was thankful for the friendship and the memories. I could go on but we recorded both speeches, along with most of the entire event. Clips will be posted and labeled soon.
Pictures - I am uploading ALL the pictures I took. This means there are 4-8 or so pictures of every student receiving their diplomas. You can choose your favorite.
Congratulations to the Class of 2014.
