CCS - 2016 05 12 High School Spring Concert

High School Spring Concert

Wow - what a night. Great pop tunes reworked - classic rock revisited - music from Disney movies and so much more. The CCS auditorium was the place to be May 12. The band and choral groups put on a stellar performance once again. Jazz Band got the toes tapping with their selections that included the classic "In the Mood" and a jazzy version of "The Pink Panther". Half Past Seven treated the crowd with tunes from a few Disney movies (and as Mr. Duffer learned - one from Dreamworks). The full band brought a Kansas song, a centuries old march, Mary Poppins and a tune from Guardians of the Galaxy. Chorus ended the evening with "Give Us Hope", "That Lonesome Road", and "Pompei".
Mrs. Trombley and Mr. Duffer took a few minutes to recognize and honor the senior members of both groups and handed out some special conductor's awards.

Special Recognition

Shown here are Aiden Tam and Anna Bleakley. They were recognized for their leadership in band and chorus by their conductors. Congratulations to both for their hard work and dedication to the music program.

Wonderful Concert

I think this year's spring concert was one of the best Elementary and Junior High concerts in some time. Every musical number was well performed. The selection was a fun mix of classic songs from famous composers to fun, catch tunes that stick with you. I have high school students who sing the "I've Lost My Homework" tune all the time. Well, maybe not this version, but something similar for sure.
There was a beautiful flute accompaniment provided by Grace Harrigan, some fantastic solos in the bands and so much more. Congratulations to Mr. Duffer and Mrs. Trombley for putting together such a wonderful night or music. Click one of the links below to see the lists of all the performers. Both programs are the same but they feature different art work from talented CCS artists.

December 22, 2015 - Sing Along

I will fix the titles for the videos soon but I thought the important thing was to post them. Please note that one set of pictures came from Mr. Green's camera. The family knew that he loved posting his pictures to the website so they donated his gear to the school so I could use it for pictures for the website. I have to admit it made this an extra special morning. I also have to admit that it took me a few beats to navigate his camera. CCS is lucky to have a piece of Mr. Green for years to come. I hope I can honor his memory with some great pictures. Also I am linking these to the Google+ page I created. I hope this works better for some of you. Please consider following that page and you will always know when I post something new.

May 23, 2015 - Matching Band in Chateaugay

posted May 23, 2015, 6:26 PM by Arlington Trombley   [ updated May 23, 2015, 6:38 PM ]

It was cold this year but that is much better than hot and certainly better than the rain from a few years ago. The CCS Marching Band once again anchored the Memorial Day Parade in Chateaugay. They performed several patriotic pieces during the parade and also during the ceremony. This year's service featured many special readings and poems and a guest speaker who reminded everyone that the Memorial Day weekend should be about more than picnics, cookouts and parties. To that end the band was recognized several times during the ceremony. The veterans are always pleased to see so many students take the time to perform over the weekend. It means a great deal to them to continue to have the support for the memorial service. It was very touching to see CCS graduate Corey Spoor in uniform again. You can see him in the pictures.
I also have to apologize a bit for so many pictures of the 21 gun salute. I always try to get the flash from one of the guns. I think it looks pretty neat. This year I got one. I also have some pictures of the shells being expended. I also have some great pictures of all the participants. Thanks to the Chateaugay Fire Department and the State Police for their support and to Mr. Michael Campbell for leading the morning's ceremony.
I know the community is very proud of the students who marched and for Mrs. Trombley's leadership. Thanks also to recent student teacher Mr. Vanier who came back after his graduation to work with the band. You will also see some recent CCS graduates in the band, It was a wonderful and poignant morning.

Let's Go Band - and Chorus

I think this was one of the best all around concerts for the Elementary and Junior musical groups in many years. From the opening notes of "Sweet Caroline" through to classics from Beethoven and the 1812 Overture the concert showcased something for everyone - A little Journey some Bruno Mars a 50s rock-n-roll classic - and Fireflies. Congratulations to the all the performers.
Mrs. Trombley too some time to recognize the extra efforts of band members who helped out in various groups, especially some senior band members. She also awarded certificates to Caroline Harrigan and Anna Dumas for their leadership in the band program.
Mr. Duffer also recognized Brady Spaulding for his contributions to the choral program. Both conductors singled out the students who performed at the All County concert earlier this year.
Great night everyone! - Program artwork from Jordan Staib!

High School Spring Concert

And so it goes....another Spring Concert has come and gone. The annual High School Spring Conert featured music from Billy Joel, Louis Prima, Scott Joplin, the band .fun as well as snippets from Into The Woods. Stellar performances from senior soloists and other band and chorus members helped anchor a wonderful night of music. Mrs. Trombley and Mr. Duffer took some time to honor and recognize the many seniors who have been part of the music program for so many years. If you have any soul man, and you are in a New York state of mind you will enjoy all the video clips from the performance last night.
Awards were given in band to Erin Ashline, Reid LaPlante, Josh Trombley and Holly Zeldenrust. In chorus Mr. Duffer recognized Erin Ashline, Josh Trombley, Kayley Whyte and Reid LaPlante.
Thanks to all the seniors for the memories as well as the conductors for their hard work and dedication.

December 11, 2014 High School Winter Concert

Video clips from the High School Winter Concert have been posted. I tried out a new microphone set up this year and I think the sound is much better. Let me know what you think. Have a wonderful holiday season everyone.
Frankenstein and Frozen in one concert - yet somehow it worked. The annual winter concert was another success with great performances from the high school band and choral groups. he Jazz Band lead things off with "Crazy Little Thing Called Love" and we were off and running. Senior Erin Ashline had many great solos throughout the performance as did Kyle Tower and Darek LaBare. Half Past Seven brought a great jazzy vibe to "Wee Three Kings". The senior band brought out the seniors to sing a song and the chorus left everyone once again signing the songs from "Frozen".
Both directors thanked the parents and the community for the support. December is a busy time for many students and families and Mrs. Trombley and Mr. Duffer are appreciative for all the support. The program for the night was created by Nate Roach. It is attached below.
Next up for Half Past Seven and Jazz band is the annual trip to the Nursing Home next week. The Sing Along is scheduled for December 22 at 9:00 AM. Happy Holidays!

Looking for clips of the concert? Look no more. FYI - I was trying a new way to record the audio. The settings I needed to use drained the batteries quickly so the sound might be different from clip to clip. I also had a camera malfunction during one of the chorus songs so part of it is missing. It a night of things breaking down. I am sorry. Most of it is here though. Enjoy!

CCS - 2014 12 05 Elementary Jr High Winter Concert

Another great performance from our youngest musicians. On December 4 the band and choral groups from the grades 5-8 took the stage for their annual winter concert. Song choices ranged from holiday classics to some recent pop tunes and more. A highlight was one elementary song complete with snowballs and great choreography. (you can see it when the videos are all loaded.) Thanks from Mrs. Trombley and Mr. Duffer for all their hard work putting together such a wonderful evening. They would like to thank all the performers and their parents for all the hard work and support.
Next up is the High School Winter Concert scheduled for December 11, 2014 at 7:00 PM.
