Lost and Found

The tables shown here are items left in school since the beginning of this school year.  I know it can be very frustrating (as a parent of a kid who left things all over, I can relate) to have your child come home without that brand new sweatshirt/cleats/pants etc.  Please remind your child to check these tables for missing items.  These tables will only be up for two days.  After that time, they will be located in the main office until the end of the sports' season.

Items left in locker rooms will be placed in boxes located inside the locker room until the end of that sports' season so your child will have immediate access to look for misplaced items.  During sports recognition night we will put items out on tables at the entrance of the auditorium for parents to go through.  Please do not hesitate to contact school to arrange a time for you to come in prior to that night and look for lost items.  We have already retrieved many missed items reported by families.  Please encourage your child to check the lost and found areas now located in the main office and each of the locker rooms.

At the end of the sports' recognition evening, all items remaining will be turned over to our migrant education office to disperse to families in need.

Concussion Information

Please take a few moments to read over this information about concussions. The more we learn about brain injuries the more we realize we need to be more aware of the dangers that concussions can have, especially long term damage.

How many schools can pull this off? Here is a photo of just about all students at CCS. Today was Pink Day. Students and staff wore pink and brought in money to donate to Hope Lodge. Full Size Picture
Congratulations to these two seniors - they are part of the merger with FA and have represented CCS wonderfully over the years on the track and cross country teams.

Halloween Skits

The CCS Student Council invites all students 7-12 to participate in the Halloween costume/skit contest on October 31, 2016.

Group Skits will be judged on creativity:
First Prize: Pizza Party
Second Prize: Sundae Party
Third Prize: Donut Party
We encourage everyone to participate in the Halloween festivities!

Soccer Season

This morning I received a thumb drive full of pictures from soccer games this past season from Mrs. Louise Jarvis. I also realized I forgot to post a set or two from Mrs. Cavanaugh. Thank you both for the great pictures. Here are the links to some recent photo albums - and remember that all the pictures are posted on the school's Google+ Page.
Apologies to these two senior volleyball players for not posting this last week. They have both helped anchor a strong team for so many years. They will be missed. Do well in the playoffs ladies.

Water Testing

Mrs. Fowler is sharing a letter about the recent water testing. PLEASE CLICK here to read this information.
She is also sharing the testing results. PLEASE CLICK HERE to read the report.
Please note that once the fixes have been made and the re-testing has been completed she will release new information.

Cancer Society and the CTA

Members of the CTA helped put together a Scratch-Off Ticket Tree that was given away as part of a raffle at the recent NYSUT leadership conference. The membership also raised $360 selling raffle tickets. All proceeds from the weekend long event will go to the American Cancer Society.

The Pointercounts sang to Mrs. Fowler this week as part of their performance

Lead Testing Results

In August, Brian Beach, Head of Maintenance, initiated lead water sample testing for every faucet and water fountain in elementary and high school.
The preliminary test results are in and there are 13 of the 103 samples that are above the 15 parts per billion level of lead.  The majority of the faucets impacted were in the elementary wing from the Elementary Office down to the new Elementary Gymnasium.
