October 30, 2015 - Halloween Parade

posted Oct 30, 2015, 11:16 AM by Arlington Trombley   [ updated Nov 5, 2015, 8:42 AM ]

Another parade - another batch of great costumes. This year's annual Halloween parade was another winner. Between Mrs. Trombley and me there are nearly 1000 pictures here. I think we got everyone. Someone had an idea to take a group picture. I took several. I even grabbed a few tight shots of the big group. As I did I could not help but think that someone should have dressed as Waldo. It would have been fun to try and find Waldo in the mass of great costumes.
Thanks to the parents who helped with the parade. But I think anyone who has spent anytime in an elementary class at Halloween knows that thanks needs to go to the teachers. It is a hectic day full of excited students. We wish everyone a safe Halloween. Have fun trick or treating.

Common Core State Standards Review Panel

posted Oct 20, 2015, 6:00 AM by Arlington Trombley   [ updated Oct 27, 2015, 7:27 AM ]

PLEASE NOTE: The meeting has been postponed. We will post the new date if/when we get it.

For many, this is the chance you have been waiting for. The New York State Department of Education will be conducting a review of the Common Core State Standards. On October 21 an online review tool will be made available for school board members, administrators, educators, parents and members of the community. All stakeholders will have the chance to review and each standard and comment on them.
NEW DATE AND TIME COMING SOON! The public sessions will provide some baseline information about the common Core State Standards and information about how to access the online review tool.  Technology devices will be available at the conclusion of the sessions to allow participants the opportunity to immediately access the online review tool.
This really is your chance to have your voice heard about the Common Core Standards. We will provide more information once we receive it. Mark your calendar. This is YOUR chance to voice your concerns and comments. Regardless of your opinion of the standards this is the opportunity many people have been asking for over the past few years.

October 15, 2015 - Leader in Me

posted Oct 15, 2015, 9:36 AM by Arlington Trombley   [ updated Oct 15, 2015, 9:49 AM ]

Chateaugay Central School has the unique opportunity to learn the 7 Habits of Highly Effective People based on the awarding winning author Stephen Covey.  These “habits” help the individual become a more productive self-enabling them to achieve a more productive life in all areas.

Our ENTIRE staff will have the opportunity to participate in a 2 day long training, on October 22 and October 23.  We are all very excited to learn, share and grow.

We are inviting all of our parents and community members from CCS on Thursday evening from 6:30-7:30 to get a brief overall introduction to the Leader in Me and The 7 Habits.  We are also providing child care for our younger students!  That is a Win~Win!  Please plan on joining us so that you too can be introduced to this process and be able to have discussions with your student on what he/she is learning!

We sure hope to see you there!!  If you have any questions please feel free to call Michelle 497-6611 ext. 2401.

June 24, 2015 - Pre-K Graduation

Stage presence already? Some of these kids have it. What a nice way to send off the youngest students at CCS. All the letters of the alphabet - a great song and a short rap complete with sunglasses. What a nice job! Thanks Mrs. McComb and Mrs. Swanston for your leadership in the Pre-K program. I hope these students are ready for kindergarten. I took many pictures of each student receiving a diploma. I hope there is something you can use.
Program - see the names of all the graduates - what letter they presented and what they said. Sorry for the sound. I did not realize the camera would pick up all the clicking sounds from my camera and all the sounds of the people in the back of auditorium. Thanks to Mrs. Trombley for helping with the videos, lights and sounds as well.

June 19, 2015 - Kindergarten Graduation

Start spreading the news - there is a new crop of first graders set to take on the world. This morning the kindergarten students at CCS performed four fun songs and were handed their diplomas in front of a packed house full of friends, family and community members. It was very fitting that they parodied "Summer Nights" from Grease this year. Congratulations to the all those students and their hard working teachers. There are several pictures of each student receiving a diploma. I did not edit them. I just posted them all. I think there is something good here for everyone.
