On behalf of the staff at Chateaugay Central School, I am happy to welcome you to the 2020-2021 school year! Our CCS faculty and staff is thrilled to welcome our little Bulldogs back to our school building tomorrow, Tuesday, September 8th.

I wanted to review some important safety information with you. We are asking the guardians of our students to please fill out the Daily Student Health Screening Form each day prior to your child coming to school. The Daily Student Health Screening Form will be sent to your email address each morning. Please fill out the form prior to sending your child to school each day. If you are the guardian of multiple children, please fill out the form for each child. Upon arriving at the school, each child will have their temperature taken. Our students will be wearing masks and practicing social distancing throughout the school day. We appreciate your support as we implement the new safety procedures.

Just a reminder that we will begin welcoming students into the building at 7:45 am. We ask that all of our students arrive at CCS by 8:05 am. After entering the building our students will immediately make their way to their classrooms. This school year we will be eating breakfast and lunch in our classrooms. This is a change for our students.

Many of our families have chosen to drop off/pick up their child from school. If you are walking your child to school, please be sure to wear a mask while on school grounds. If you are driving your child to school, I ask that you are very patient with our staff. We are anticipating a higher volume of cars driving through the car-rider line. Our number one goal is to ensure student safety. We ask that you help us to keep our students safe by staying in the car rider line, driving slowly and not using your cell phone.

In the past our families have been very generous and have often brought snacks to school for our students to enjoy. This year we are asking that all snacks are pre-packaged, store bought snacks. In an effort to help our amazing school, please be sure to fill out the free and reduced lunch form as well as the 2020 census form. We appreciate your help.

Chateaugay Central School District will continue to comply with the guidelines set forth by the Department of Health and Department of Education. It is important that we work together to keep our students and school community safe. Your child’s safety is our number one priority. Dear Parents,

On behalf of the staff at Chateaugay Central School, I am happy to welcome you to the 2020-2021 school year! I hope you enjoyed a summer vacation filled with fun and exciting memories with your loved ones. Enclosed you will find important information on upcoming events to start this school year. Please review the information closely as there have been many changes for the upcoming school year. We hope that you have had the opportunity to review the Chateaugay Central School District Reopening Plan. The reopening plan provides our stakeholders with important information regarding the health and safety of our students. You may find the CCSD Reopening Plan at www.chateaugaycsd.org. As you know, Chateaugay Central School District must comply with the guidelines set forth by the Department of Health and Department of Education. It is important that we work together to keep our students and school community safe. Please review the information below and if you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to contact the elementary office.

The Pre-Kindergarten Open House will be held on Friday, September 4th. Mrs. McComb, Mrs. Swanston and Ms. Swinton are excited to welcome our newest students to our building. Our Pre-Kindergarten Open House is going to be different than in years past. Mrs. Courtney Parmeter will be calling you during the week of August 24th. Mrs. Parmeter will let you know the time that you and your child are able to come to CCS. We will be staggering the times that our families attend the Open House. We want to ensure that we are able to meet the social distancing guidelines. We ask that our families wear masks to the orientation. All individuals that enter CCS must wear masks, have your temperature taken, complete the health screening questionnaire and practice social distancing. While at the Open House you will have the opportunity to meet your child’s teacher and see the Pre-K classroom. We also ask that you bring your child’s school supplies at this time. We can’t wait to see our little Bulldogs!

Tuesday, September 8th is the first day of school. It is important to establish a routine at the very beginning of school. We will have faculty or staff in the hallway to direct your child to their classrooms. If you need to speak to your child’s teacher, please call and schedule a time to speak with him/her.

ARRIVAL PROCEDURES:

Parents may bring children to school at 7:45 am. Our school day begins at 8:05 am. Students are not able to enter the school building until 7:45 am. All students will be dropped off at the old bus ramp doors. There is a sign posted that indicates the drop off location. Students are not to be dropped off at the elementary doors. We will have our staff outside welcoming your child and directing them to their classrooms. If your child is in Pre-K through third grade he/she will be given a badge that will clip to his/her backpack. The badge helps teachers and aides make sure that your child goes to the correct location after school. Please have your child keep the badge on his/her backpack.

DISMISSAL PROCEDURES:

*Please note that we have changed the dismissal time for our students. On Monday-Thursday students will be dismissed at 2:31 pm. On Friday students will be dismissed at 1:50 pm.

Enclosed, please find a Transportation and Emergency Contact Information Sheet that needs to be filled out. It is very important that we have the most updated address, phone, parent and emergency contact information. The form asks you to provide the arrival and dismissal information for your child. On the information sheet you will select how your child will be dismissed from school.

Bus Riders - Please indicate if your child will be riding the bus to and from school. Please be reminded that children are not able to ride the bus until they turn four years old. Due to social distancing, we are only able to allow for twenty-two students to ride the school bus. Please remember that you must have a consistent dismissal plan.

Parent Pick-Up – Our parent pick-up location and procedures will remain the same as last school year. Students being picked up at the end of the day will go to the old bus ramp. There is a sign posted that indicates the pick-up location. Parents will stay within their car and your child will be escorted to your car. It is so important that you are patient with all of our amazing employees. Thank you for your continued support.

Walkers- All students will exit the old bus ramp doors.

Bulldog Hour- We are very fortunate to have an amazing after-school program at CCS. Cornell Cooperative Extension runs our Bulldog Hour program. A Bulldog Hour letter is enclosed. If you have any questions regarding Bulldog Hour please call Cornell Cooperative Extension at 483-7403.

Early Dismissal Procedure---Students need to bring a signed letter from their parent or guardian indicating that they will be leaving early on a particular day. Within the letter please include the time and reason for leaving as well as the parent or guardian’s contact information. Students should turn the letter into their teacher who will send it to the elementary office. Parents are to report in person to the Elementary Office in order to pick their child up. All students coming in late or leaving early must be signed in or out by their parent/guardian in the Elementary Office.
