Chateaugay Central School District Board of Education Election Information

The Chateaugay Central School District has announced three open seats on the Board of Education for the upcoming May election. These 4-year terms (7/1/25-6/30/29) will fill the expired terms of Michelle Breen (not seeking re-election), Courtney Leonard (seeking re-election) and Jennifer Stansberry (seeking re-election).

Key Information for Potential Candidates:

Eligibility Requirements:

• Must be able to read and write

• Must be a qualified voter (U.S. citizen, at least 18 years old)

• Must have been a district resident for at least one continuous year

• Cannot have been removed from any school district office in the preceding year

• Cannot reside with another member of the same school board as a family member

• Cannot be a current employee of the school board

• Cannot simultaneously hold another incompatible public office

Petition Requirements:

• Requires at least 25 signatures from qualified district voters

• Nominating petition forms are available at the District Clerk's Office or on the district website (www.chateaugaycsd.org).

• Petitions must be submitted to the District Clerk by 5:00 pm on Monday, April 21, 2025

• Residents can sign multiple nominating petitions with no limit

Qualified Voter Definition:

• U.S. citizen

• At least 18 years old

• Resident of the school district for at least 30 days prior to the election
