Pre-K to Grade 6 - 2024-2025

From Mrs. Patnode: The kids made leprechaun hats and enjoyed a game of toss the ball into your partner's hat in preparation for St. Patrick's Day.

From Miss Swinton: Kindergarten prepared for the arrival of the St. Patrick's Day leprechaun! I wonder if this will be the year we catch him!

From Ms. Kline: Students in elementary music have been celebrating Music in our Schools Month by creating beautiful musical notes to hang around our campus. The students were asked what music meant to them or how it makes them feel. Their answers were heartwarming and inspiring!

From Mrs. Blair-Wilcox: The kiddos in 4th grade worked hard researching someone for their biography project.  The culmination of this research was a written packet and a likeness of their person.  They did an outstanding job on their bottle people and presentations to the 5th grade classes.

From Dr. I: The elementary band has been busy this week! We developed new listening skills during "circle day," when the band rehearses in a circle instead of rows. Our elementary percussionists also got to try the high school marching drums. All three bands also learned about the physics of sound while experimenting with a drumbone, a PVC pipe instrument.

After reading the novel Paddington in Peru, Mrs. Patnode's class took a trip to Plattsburgh to see the movie.🍿 The kids enjoyed lunch in the food court and took a walk through the mall.

From Mrs. Burgoyne: Fifth grade recess fun!

From Miss Swinton: Valentine's Day in K! 💕

From Mrs. Stockwell: We had so much fun celebrating Valentine’s Day today! We played human tic-tac-toe and did math with candy hearts. Our party this afternoon was so full of love and passing out Valentines that I didn’t get a chance to take photos! I hope everyone has a wonderful and restful break!

From Mrs. Sweatt: The 4th grade Valentine's Day challenge was to create a boat that can hold the most candy hearts without sinking!

Valentine's Day in Mrs. Parmeter's room!

From Miss Nichols: Some of Mrs. Thomas' students were caught being creative during indoor recess!

It's that time of year again! Daily update #1, 1/30/25.  Mrs. Harrigan's second graders kicked off their food drive with their first 39 donations! They'll be collecting items from their list until 2/12.

Mrs. Thomas' class celebrated Lunar New Year by making and designing their own lanterns, discovering what their fortune was from their scratch off card, and, finally, receiving the traditional red envelope with money (fake) and also real chocolate coins they could enjoy. It was fun learning about a different culture's holiday!

From Mrs. Harrigan: The second year of our annual food drive is about to begin! Our success last year far exceeded our expectations! Please see the attached flyer which explains my second graders’ “100 Donations for the 100th Day” drive for our local food pantry.  This flyer will be sent home with elementary students.

The drive will run 1/30-2/12. This year, we’re asking for specific items to better meet the needs of our local pantry. Donation boxes will be placed in the Elementary and High School Offices, but items can be directly brought to my classroom as well.  My kiddos will be down to empty them regularly.

Thank you for all of your support! I truly appreciate it, and my students are so excited to manage this project!  Look for updates on our school website when the drive begins. 😀

Mr. Zenger brought in Huey, Dewey, and Louie (baby ducks) to our classroom! They are adorable. Wednesday, Mrs. Jones King read Scribble Stones and then we got to make our own scribble stone. Some kiddos chose to hide them outside for someone else to find and others decided to take it home and share theirs with their family. It was a great summer! We had lots of laughs and smiles this summer.

We did a craft where each kiddo made their own troll (apparently I didn’t take many photos!). Then our stem challenge was to build a bridge across the river. Our field trip to the VIC Center had some bridges so we looked for the troll but only saw remnants of his bath! It’s been a fun week!

Wow! The CCS Summer School group took an amazing trip to Bilow Farms today. We were awed by the state of the art dairy farm. Mr. Vincent Bilow gave an informative tour of the facility, and his daughter, Jessica Kelly, treated the group to a fun activity where the students acted as feed mixers, creating a delicious mixed snack for themselves that represented the many parts to the feed that their cattle is fed twice daily. Bilow Farms is holding an Open House on August 31st for the public. We all agree that everyone should check this place out. It is a sight to see.
